Aim & Scope:

The ambition of the proposed research topic is to study the synthesis of some heterometallic transition metal complexes with various types of ligands such as Schiff bases, carboxylates, neutral spacers etc. The spectral, photophysical, and electrochemical properties of the complexes to be explained to reveal their physico-chemical properties. The variable temperature magnetic properties of these polynuclear complexes to be studied in order to understand the magnetic coupling between the heterometals through various bridging moities and also to explore the potential of the compounds to be used as single molecule magnet for high-density data storage and quantum-computing applications. Whether these heterometallic complexes can be used as catalyst for catalytic oxidase activities is also to be explored. The
synthesis and characterization of the polynuclear complexes are expected to offer comprehensive knowledge regarding the linking of hetero-metals by bridging ligands or spacers giving rise to different types of crystal engineering. Studies of magnetic and catalytic properties of such complexes may bring a great opportunity in theunderstanding of the structural variations due to introduction of heteroatom that may bring about substantial changes in their behaviour as magnetic material and catalyst.
